We have kittens !!!

Welcome on the site of Cattery "Of Shepperd's Home"

New: See my photografy-page !!! New picture albums added.

Norwegian Forestcat

In the year 2004 i visited a friend who had Norwegian forestcats and for the first time i saw this magnificent species. The same day we visited friends of her who had kittens and that day i was picked by a kitten. You are going to be my new owner and i was in love.

My Dreams.

* My first cats were European Shorthair cats who literally crossed my path in life. Moppie i discovered along a farmroad, she lay in a garbagebag. Still a kitten i desided to take her home and she lived with me until she was thirteen and died of diabetice. Woepie wondered around my house and she never left again. She died december 2003 when she was 18 years old. I decided not to own cats anymore, but i misted their company to much. It was my dream to buy two kittens at the same time so they could play and sleep together and in august 2004 my first Norwegian Forestcat Chinouk and my thirt European Shorthair Kyona entered my house. They became close friends.

*I'm always fascinated by the way Indians live. When i was younger it was my dream to live with the Indian people. It never came to that but for that reason i gave Indian names to all my cats.
Chinouk means: Power of the wind, Kyona means: Little luck, Dena means: Valley, Yeti means: Man alone and Meka means little racoon. Nullah is the only one who didn't get a Indian name, but his name is a caracter from the film "Australia". So a native Australian name. All the kittens that are born in this cattery will get Indian names.

* My last dream became the truth july 2005. For years i worked as a caretaker for animals of different species and so i viewed a lot of animals giving birth. But it never happened in my own home. July 2005 was extra special to me because Chinouk gave birth to her first litter. See the litter-page. I kept Dena, the last born of that litter and she became mother on 22 march 2007. Also see the litter-page for photo's of the kittens.

* Because i enjoy breeding so much, all the kittens in my home and the happiness they bring, i desided to buy my own first tomcat. Helas Yeti died on 31-10-08. He made beautyfull kittens, we will miss him very much.

* On 19-04-09 Nullah entered my home. He will be my next tomcat. He has a beautyfull triangleface and big ears with big tuffs on them. He also has strong legs and a long coat. When he is an adult he may mate with Chinouk and Dena, they will have beautyfull kittens.

Food and caretaking.

* While Norwegians have a long coat, it is important to gife you cat premium food. Otherwise their coat is going to be a mess. Normaly i comb my cats ones every two weeks. But in the moultingperiod I comb them every week ones.

* I gife my cats a combination of Royal Canin Oral and Sensible and also I mix through the adult version of Fokker. The mix is available for all my cats the whole day. In the evening they are getting fresh food. That can be chicken, tuna or Carnibest (meatmix). Read their site for more info (Only in Dutch).

* All my animals go to the vet every year for their injections. Also we visit the vet during the year, when there is something wrong with them. Click here for the site of my vet (Only in Dutch).

* I order my animalfood and catbox granules on this site (Only in Dutch). He deliveres every four weeks everything at my home.

What's in a name?

I was thinking a lot when i had to find three names for my cattery. I wanted the names to fit to my lifestyle. It became the second name, cattery "Of Shepperd's Home". I picked that name because i am a volunteer shepherd in Holland.

I hope you enjoy my site, and if you have questions you can contact me.
